Sentinel Ring is a wildland fire station situated in the fire-prone forests of Northern California. Designed as a direct response to escalating climate challenges, the project establishes a resilient defensive frontline for both the fragile natural ecosystem and the surrounding vulnerable communities under the extreme threat of wildfires.
The core of the architecture is driven by the concept of "Dual Protection." This is manifested through a precise spatial layout consisting of two distinct concentric rings. The outer ring is engineered to act as a robust physical barrier, deflecting extreme environmental elements and providing a primary line of defense against advancing fires.

In contrast, the inner ring is designed to serve a deeply human function. Protected by the outer shell, it provides a safe, highly efficient, and psychologically comforting sanctuary. This core space ensures that firefighters have a secure operational hub, while also offering a temporary refuge for potential evacuees during crisis scenarios.
Beyond serving as a highly efficient operational base for disaster response, the station stands as a symbol of community resilience. Through its innovative spatial organization, the design explores how architecture can successfully balance extreme defensive capabilities with humanistic care amid ecological crises, truly acting as a "sentinel" guarding both life and nature.
